Shopping and leisure facilities in nearby Bedford and Milton Keynes are excellent. Local markets can be found at Flitwick, Ampthill, Bedford, and Milton Keynes. Nearby leisure activities include Woburn Abbey with Safari Park and Flitwick Leisure Centre.

Lidlington is home to the Thomas Johnson Lower School which provides education for 5 to 9 year olds. 9 to 13 year olds can go to Stewartby Middle School while Wootton Upper School cares for 13 to 18 year olds. Excellent private schools are found at Bedford. The nearest major medical centre is Bedford General Hospital.

The M1 is just 5 minutes from Lidlington. There is a regular bus service through Lidlington. Three major railway lines pass through the region. The stations are located at Milton Keynes and Bletchley for the line from Euston; at Harlington and Flitwick on the Thameslink (Bedford to Brighton) Line, and at Lidlington and Millbrook on the Marston Vale (Bletchley to Bedford) Line. The nearest connections by air are from Luton International Airport and Stansted Airport.
